Mother gives birth while driving her 2005 Chevy Cobalt to the hospital

DETROIT, May 26 – Earlier this week in Minnesota, Chevrolet was pleased to learn that the newest member of the Chevy family – a healthy 8-pound newborn named Joseph – was miraculously delivered while his mother Amanda McBride was driving her Chevy Cobalt to the hospital.

Amazingly, the boy’s father, Joseph Phillips, unable to drive because of a medical condition, was able to steer the Cobalt to safety from the passenger seat as Amanda gave birth behind the wheel. To celebrate this incredible delivery, Chevy will provide Amanda McBride and her family with:

  • A one-year supply of diapers (to avoid any other unexpected deliveries in the car)
  • Two child safety seats
  • A stroller
  • Numerous other supplies (bottles, formula, toys, etc.)

“We knew the Cobalt was designed to deliver its occupants safely, but never did we expect a delivery quite like this,” said Margaret Brooks, Chevrolet product marketing director, Small Cars and Crossovers. “From everyone at Chevrolet, we’d like to congratulate Amanda and Joseph on the newest addition to their family. Unfortunately, there is no section in the Cobalt driver’s manual on ‘How to Change a Diaper,’ but we’re sure they’ll do just fine.”

Game-Changing Kia Halo Vehicle Still Stands Apart From Competition

  • 2010 Soul urban passenger vehicle rolls in clever, hip hop style spot
  • Pop culture Hamsters compare Soul’s style and creature comforts to other boxy rides

IRVINE, Calif., May 26, 2010 /PRNewswire/ – Kia Motors America (KMA) today officially released a new advertising campaign, titled “This or That,” for the 2010 Kia Soul. “This or That” is the rebirth of the initial Kia Soul award winning advertising campaign created by David&Goliath, KMA’s advertising agency of record, and brings back the loveable Hamsters due to popular demand. Soul is a unique and highly personalizable urban passenger vehicle and the new spot builds on its creative theme in the style of a music video set to the classic hip hop track “The Choice is Yours” by notable 90′s hip hop group Black Sheep. The new campaign launches today on cable TV networks Comedy Central, Fuse, MTV, MTV2 and Spike and runs through July. Beginning May 28 it will appear in movie theaters across the country as well as have a presence online at Pandora, Facebook, Social Vibe’s PetVille, KMA’s Kia.com. and a YouTube contest.

“Given the success and popularity of the hamsters in the initial Soul launch with a spot that won Nielsen’s Automotive Ad of the Year, it made sense to bring them back for a new campaign,” said Michael Sprague, vice president, marketing of KMA. “We know the Soul target audience is digitally savvy and that they viewed the first commercial multiple times online, so the newest experience is rich with details in the hamster world and integrated Soul content for them to discover during repeat viewings.”
