The performance testing against the 2011 Dodge Charger Police Pursuit police card and the 2011 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor was conducted on Saturday in Chelsea, Mich., and on Monday during a vehicle dynamics comparison at the Grattan Raceway near Belding, Mich., where the Caprice PPV had the best overall average time per lap.
“Police departments around the country told us they needed a modern, high-performance rear-drive pursuit car,” said Joyce Mattman, GM Fleet and Commercial Operations product director. “These results are proof that the Caprice PPV delivers the performance officers want, without compromising safety or comfort.”
Bespoke design will take centre stage for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars at Paris this year, as five models featuring the company’s extensive personalisation programme take to the stand. The collection includes a sumptuous Phantom Extended Wheelbase in Gunmetal metallic with Sunrise leather interior and a Carrara White metallic Phantom Drophead Coupé with Hotspur Red leather interior. A Phantom Coupé and two Ghosts complete the presentation.

Hyundai and Rhys Millen Racing will enter rounds two and three of the U.S. Rallycross Championship at the New Jersey Motorsports Park on Oct. 2-3 and Nov. 6-7. Millen will be piloting a Hyundai Rally car specifically developed for the World Rally Championship.

Partnership with ABB Group to identify post-vehicle applications for Volt batteries
TROY, Mich. – General Motors and ABB Group will work together to develop pilot projects for re-using the batteries from the Chevrolet Volt electric vehicle, examining whether the batteries may be a source for renewable energy that could improve the effectiveness of wind and solar power generation.
The opportunity is the basis of a memorandum of understanding signed between General Motors and ABB Group.
The two companies are collaborating to determine how the Volt’s 16-kWh lithium-ion batteries can be used to provide stationary electric grid storage systems once the batteries have fulfilled their usefulness in customers’ vehicles.
