World Car announces ‘Top 10′ Finalists for 2011.

The countdown has begun in preparation for the 2011 World Car Awards winners’ press conference co-hosted by the New York International Auto Show on Thursday, April 21.

A jury of sixty-six (66) distinguished international automotive journalists selected the following top ten finalists by secret ballot, based on their experience with each candidate as part of their professional work. The jury members constitute a balance of representation from Asia, Europe, North America, South America, as well as other parts of the world. All hold significant stature within their own regions and countries.

The international accounting firm KPMG then tabulated the jurors’ ballots and announced the top ten finalists in both categories today.

Ram Truck today announced a series of upgrades to its Heavy Duty truck line up that will give it outright class supremacy in trailer towing.

Now boasting the ability to pull a segment-leading 22,700-lb. maximum trailer weight, the one-ton Ram 3500 Heavy Duty will get a performance boost to its 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel Engine that will increase its torque by 23 percent to 800 lb.-ft. and be upfitted with a package of components that will increase its gross combined weight rating (GCWR) to 30,000 lbs.

Mad Catz Interactive, Inc. (“Mad Catz” or “the Company”) (AMEX/TSX: MCZ), a leading third-party interactive entertainment accessory provider, today announced record quarterly financial results for its fiscal 2011 third quarter ended December 31, 2010.

For the quarter ended December 31, 2010, Mad Catz generated net sales of $93.0 million, the highest quarterly sales in the Company’s history and a 90.6% increase from net sales of $48.8 million in the fiscal 2010 third quarter. Net sales in North America, the Company’s largest market, grew 129.6% to $56.4 million in the fiscal 2011 third quarter, while net sales to Europe increased 52.9% year-over-year to a record $35.1 million. Gross profit in the fiscal 2011 third quarter rose 65.6% to $26.4 million from the prior year period while gross profit margin declined by 4.3 percentage points to 28.4%, primarily due to a shift in the Company’s sales mix which included higher levels of licensed products.

Lotus Renault GP has revised its driver line-up for this week’s test session in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain.

Vitaly will drive the R31 on Thursday and Friday, as originally scheduled. For Saturday and Sunday, the team will give mileage to Bruno Senna and will also evaluate Nick Heidfeld, who is a potential replacement for Robert Kubica as a race driver. The exact running order for the weekend will be confirmed on Friday evening.

Suzuki Motor Corporation will be exhibiting a new concept car named the SWIFT S-CONCEPT at the 81st Geneva International Motor Show*.

The SWIFT S-CONCEPT is based on the new Swift, which Suzuki began marketing in Europe in autumn 2010. In line with Suzuki’s brand philosophy of delivering excitement, its overall development concept was to create a stylish sport compact with premium performance. A “more sporty and exciting” design theme is reflected by a stylish look.

Suzuki also plans to exhibit the Swift, Splash, Alto, Kizashi, Jimny, Grand Vitara, and SX4.
