Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood leads with seven BAFTA nominations

Call of Duty: Black Ops and Heavy Rain each garner six nominations

Mass Effect 2 follows with five, LIMBO and Super Mario Galaxy 2 with four

London, 16 February 2011: The Academy today announced the nominations for the GAME British Academy Video Games Awards. 44 different games have been recognized and together they represent some of the most popular, innovative and cutting-edge creativity in today’s gaming industry.

Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood and Call of Duty: Black Ops are both nominated for Action, Artistic Achievement, Multiplayer, Technical Innovation, and Use of Audio.  In addition, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood is nominated for Best Game and Gameplay, and Call of Duty:  Black Ops got the nod for Story. Heavy Rain and Mass Effect 2 received nominations for Artistic Achievement, Best Game, Gameplay, Original Music, Story and Heavy Rain got its 6th nod for Technical Innovation.

Stuttgart. The Porsche fan community on Facebook reached a magical milestone at the turn of the year when Porsche added its one-millionth fan on Facebook, one of the largest and most popular social networks on the Internet. Reason enough for Porsche to thank its fans with a special exhibition showcasing a unique custom-made vehicle: starting today, February 11, 2011, the Porsche museum will be presenting a Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid adorned with the signatures of more than 27,000
Porsche fans.

The 911 GT3 R Hybrid was chosen for this extraordinary signature-gathering campaign because it impressively embodies the future of motorsport – with Porsche Intelligent Performance. The all-new hybrid system developed specially for use in a racing car has little in common with conventional hybrid systems as far as its design and componentry go. The 480 HP four-litre six-cylinder flat-twin engine in the back is complemented by an electric front axle drive with two electric drive motors each pumping out 60 kW. Instead of batteries, the electric motors are powered by an electric flywheel accumulator which is charged during braking. The 911 GT3 R Hybrid has already provided convincing proof of its race-worthiness in a 24-hour race at the Nürburgring.

GENERAL MOTORS IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2009-2010 CADILLAC CTS VEHICLES. SOME OF THESE VEHICLES HAVE A CONDITION IN WHICH A WAX COATING ON THE REAR SUSPENSION TOE LINK JAM NUTS MAY ALLOW THE NUT(S) TO LOOSEN. IF A NUT SUFFICIENTLY LOOSENS, THE TOE LINK COULD SEPARATE AND THE REAR WHEEL WOULD BE ABLE TO TURN INBOARD OR OUTBOARD. OWNERS MAY HEAR A METALLIC CLANKING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE THAT MAY WARN OF A LOOSENING NUT.
Consequence:
THE DRIVER MAY EXPERIENCE SUDDEN CHANGES WITH VEHICLE HANDLING AND MAY NOT BE ABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Remedy:
DEALERS WILL CLEAN ALL WAX RESIDUE FROM THE REAR SUSPENSION TOE LINK AND INSTALL TWO NEW JAM NUTS. IF NECESSARY THE REAR SUSPENSION TOE LINK MAY BE REPLACED. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT YET PROVIDED AN OWNER NOTIFICATION SCHEDULE. ATLANTA – February 16, 2011 — Debuting later this year, Porsche will unveil its second production hybrid model, the Panamera S Hybrid, adding another chapter to its Porsche Intelligent Performance development philosophy. Without sacrificing sportiness or elegance, this new Panamera model produces 380 horsepower with fuel consumption of only 6.8 L/100 km on the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC).

The Panamera S Hybrid is the most fuel efficient Porsche of all time. Optional low-rolling-resistance tires developed especially for the Panamera help this hybrid performance sedan deliver its impressive NEDC fuel economy figure. But even with standard performance tires, the Panamera S Hybrid’s fuel consumption is a low 7.1 L/100 km. Official EPA fuel economy estimates will be available closer to the car’s on-sale date.

Nintendo Announces Final Shipment of Retro Mario Collection

Nintendo of America is producing its final run of the Super Mario All-Stars™ Limited Edition package that celebrates the 25th anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros.™ game. The collection went on sale on Dec. 12 at a suggested retail price of $29.99, and nearly all retail locations were out of stock within days. The final shipments will be in stores on March 13.

The games included in the Super Mario All-Stars collection are Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels, Super Mario Bros. 2 and Super Mario Bros. 3. Each game features the enhanced graphics and updated sound from the Super NES™ Super Mario All-Stars collection, and all four can be played on the Wii system using one of several controllers: the Wii Remote™ controller, Classic Controller™, Classic Controller Pro™ or the Nintendo GameCube™ controller.
