BRÜTAL LEGEND ROCKS THE PC

ouble Fine Productions is compelled by the dark gods of Metal to announce that the epic rock-adventure Brütal Legend is being unleashed upon the PC. The game can currently be preordered for $14.99 on Steam—a 25% discount off the release-day price.

So powerful is the game’s raw lifeforce that even its creators cannot contain it any longer. Owners will receive immediate access to the Brütal Legend PC multiplayer beta, which is now live and already blowing souls. All preorder customers will also be granted two exclusive Team Fortress 2 items, Eddie Riggs’ hair and his guitar Clementine, all the better to spread the word of Metal throughout the virtual land.

“Adding a PC release to Brütal Legend’s list of conquests risks raising the world’s ambient Metal saturation to dangerously high levels,” said Double Fine President Tim Schafer, “which is why we’re conducting this closed beta test for preorders.”

CD Projekt RED, developers of The Witcher 2, started off this year’s gamescom with a bang, dominating the European Games Awards and then following up with a well-received presentation of the REDkit, the mod engine for their award-winning RPG.

“We have our own vision for RPGs, they should present an exciting story and give players lots of choices that really matter. The REDkit is designed to create adventures that way – mature, non-linear and engrossing stories set in vivid worlds filled with believable characters.” – said head of the studio Adam Badowski .

In the business section journalists were able to see the Witcher 2 toolset – REDkit. The editor allows modders to create adventures in the world of Geralt of Rivia. REDkit gives players the power to create detailed environments and complex, nonlinear quests as they tell their own Witcher story. Bethesda announced beta program for the Xbox 360 version of Skyrim’s upcoming DLC Dawnguard. Beta testers will receive an Xbox Live code for the complete content pack, including achievements.

Skyrim’s Dawnguard DLC pack will launch this summer for 1600 MS Points ($20).

F1 ONLINE: THE GAME combines intuitive top-down racing gameplay with a rewarding management game. THQ Inc. (NASDAQ: THQI) today announced that a multiplayer beta for its upcoming real time strategy game, Warhammer(R) 40,000(R): Dawn of War(R) II – Retribution(TM), is scheduled to launch in late January.

Featuring all six multiplayer races including the new Imperial Guard faction, this beta is expected to run from the end of January through the end of February to test the new Steamworks networking and matchmaking features and to help balance the multiplayer mode. All new units for each race will be available in the beta along with the new multiplayer maps which ship with Retribution.
The beta is scheduled to go live on Monday, January 31st when global press and key Dawn of War(R) community members will be given access. It will then broaden to include everyone who has pre-ordered Dawn of War(R) II – Retribution(TM) on STEAM to date on February 1st. Finally, anyone who has bought a Dawn of War game through STEAM or has registered a Dawn of War II product on their STEAM account will automatically receive an invite on February 8th. There will be no open registration phase to this beta.
